Scarlett Johansson’s Rise To Fame All Started During A Forgotten Interview With Conan O’Brien

A star’s journey is filled with highs and lows, and what makes things all the more interesting is when a star begins their journey. Some stars, like Jonathan Taylor Thomas, get in the game as a kid befor leaving, while others, like Jeffery Dean Morgan, get started much later on.

Scarlett Johansson spent ages in Hollywood before rocketing to fame in the MCU and beyond. What most people don’t know, however, is that her first credited role was with Conan O’Brien!

Let’s look back at her big break, and see where she took things, and what’s on deck.

Scarlett Johansson’s First Credit Was An Appearance On Conan

We’ve all got to start somewhere, and for a young Scarlett Johansson, that somewhere was on Conan O’Brien’s old show.

According tp PrimeTimer, “Johansson appeared on the first year of Conan’s NBC talk show on March 15, 1994, playing a spelling bee champion who can’t spell. The appearance was Johansson’s first paid acting gig, as explained when she returned to Late Night a decade later in 2003.”

On his podcast, O’Brien himself talked about having the young Johansson on his show long before she was a major Hollywood star.

Through the years, once fame became part of her life, Johansson would make additional appearances on Conan’s show, only this time, she was just getting to be herself.

For fans, this is a great clip to see where things all began for Johansson. Little did viewers know at the time that Johansson would go on to have one heck of a career in acting.

Many believe that once The Beatles were formed, The Quarrymen ceased to exist. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Scarlett’s foray into acting began at an early age, making her film debut in North and gaining critical acclaim for her role in Manny & Lo. As a child actor, she demonstrated a maturity beyond her years, setting the stage for what would become an extraordinary career.

Johansson’s breakthrough came with the film Lost in Translation, directed by Sofia Coppola. This performance not only earned her widespread recognition but also garnered her a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. The film marked the beginning of Scarlett’s ascent to Hollywood stardom.

One of the pivotal moments in Johansson’s career was her inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First appearing as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in Iron Man 2, Johansson brought a blend of strength and complexity to the character, making her an integral part of the MCU narrative.

The character’s evolution over the years showcased Johansson’s acting prowess. From a skilled ᴀssᴀssin to a key figure in the Avengers team, Black Widow became a symbol of resilience and courage. Johansson’s portrayal was central to the success of MCU blockbusters like The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

Following her solo MCU outing in Black Widow, it appeared that Johansson was done with the character. However, with Marvel looking to gain the goodwill of audiences again, could she be making a return to the franchise?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, while on Today, Johnᴀsson was asked about a return to her iconic superhero role.

“Like a loophole? I feel like that’s kind of the end, right? Like can you come back? Could it be a vampire version of the character? Cause I’m here for that, like a zombie version, maybe,” she said.

The actress was then asked about whether she had been tabbed to play the character again, “You really ask the hard questions. I feel like I have to tell you, but I actually don’t have to tell you, Al. I do not, but I want to so bad,’ she replied.

This is an interesting comment by Johansson, who had previously said that she was done with the franchise.

“I’m done. Yes, I’m done. Chapter is over. I did all that I had to do. Also, coming back and playing a character again and again like that, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience,” she told Gwyneth Paltrow.

As MCU fans know, the Multiverse has been busted wide open, meaning that all versions of Marvel characters from all timelines are seemingly on the table once again. Because of this, there is a chance that the franchise could use a Black Widow from another timeline to enter the fray and help stop the next big baddie. As of now, that’s still Kang, but with Jonathan Majors’ legal woes, that could all change, and some feel that Dr. Doom could take his place.
